This item was described as 'new' and the case and box were obviously just as described. However The unit would not recognise either CD-R or DVD-R discs. Being a retired Computer engineer I decided to have a look at the actual device inside the new case and I found what I assume to be a salvaged DVD-ROM drive which had obviously suffered some damage during its lifetime. It also had a manufacturing date of 2010.
