Anyone who likes Ravenloft and knows of Soth has got to read this book! My Captain and I don't play the games that these books came from, but we love reading the series and have almost collected them all, including the games. Soth is one of our favorites, so I totally know what I'm talking about here. This book carries on what the first one about him started (Knight of the Black Rose, also by James Lowder) and gives another looksy into Soth's past. Anyone who knows of Soth knows what he's done, the kind of soul he is, and why he's done what he's done, but this reading is a must. It might be hard to follow for someone who hasn't read about him before(because of the references), but by the end it fills you in on everything. It would still be worth buying and reading for the writing alone though. James Lowder is one of the best and can paint a picture with his smooth writing like nobody's business. From ogres to elves to undead, this book won't disappoint. Add in another Dark Lord appearance, an evilly ambitious chick, the ever-present Vistana(gypsys), thirteen Banshees, a dwarf, and a couple of "new" odds and ends running around and you've got yourself a great read for anyone who likes fantasy. Hope you enjoy it, and that this review helped!!Read full review
