About this product

Product Information

The series credited with spawning the survival-horror genre makes its Xbox 360 debut with Alone in the Dark. Famed protagonist Edward Carnby finds himself in a modern-day New York City after being hurtled through time for reasons unknown. Carnby's memories are a blur, but he will need to quickly regain his faculties to deal with an ominous threat. A supernatural force has gripped the city, and Central Park is now infested with hideous monsters of ancient origin. Carnby will need every ounce of courage and skill to stay alive in an unfamiliar world.

While the genre is known for its deliberate pace and restrictive movement, this re-imagined Alone in the Dark offers more action-oriented encounters. Players can rappel down elevator shafts, shimmy across ledges, drive vehicles, and more. The storyline is divided into chapters, with each section culminating in a cliffhanger designed to keep players glued to the screen. The interface also takes a departure from previous survival-horror titles, removing health and ammunition bars and incorporating a real-time inventory system that involves selecting and storing objects in Carnby's well-pocketed jacket.

As players explore a police precinct, zoo, castle, and other areas found in and around Central Park, they will battle enemies and solve puzzles. Multiple solutions are available for each predicament, and items can be combined in different ways to create helpful tools or even weapons. The action takes place primarily from a third-person viewpoint, automatically shifting to first-person sequences when behind the wheel, peering into Carnby's item-laden jacket, and for other events. Author Lorenzo Carcaterra, who penned the best-selling book Sleepers, helped collaborate on the game's scare-filled script.

  • In case you're curiouse

I've heard ALOT of bad reviews for this game in general, yet a number of people I've asked say its ok. Basically, its a sequel to the old pc games, in which u play as the reoccuring charector, Edward Carnby, the twist is he wakes up not knowing who he is, or whats happening. all he knows is the building hes in is burning and collapsing, and theres stranges fissures that swallow people, and they come back possesed. In short, if this were a stew, the ingrediants would be Evil Dead, End of Days, and Die Hard. What I like is not only the visual appearance, but the ability to make anything with just about anything you pick up as you travel. You can make bombs, molotovs, sticky lights, and shrapnel grenades. Everything is in real time too, so it presents a challenge when in combat, ...

  • An underdog game, good even if with flawed controls

An underdog game, good even if with flawed controls and bugs. It is a pity a patch never came to this game, but it was relatively easy to finish and get all achievements. The PS3 version has all of the problems fixed but, if you don't own that console, get this one cheap now and enjoy one of the most underrated games ever. Its puzzles are always logical and fun and its use of fire is the best I ever seen! Great for survival horror fans and hardcore players in general, even with its flaws!

  • Alone In The Dark for the price is fairly entertaining

Stiff controls that remind you of Resident Evil 1 days, back on the PS1, but I easily got over that hurdle, due to the game actually being kinda fun with the puzzles it throws your way and the story is not half bad, it kept me intrigued, wondering whats gonna happen next. Experimenting with item combinations was pretty cool as well. You can find this game for a reasonably inexpensive price pretty much anywhere, so it's not that big of a chance your taking if you ever thought of playing this game.

  • The game that could of been

I was expecting alot from this game being a big horror game fan(Resident Evil, Fatal Frame, Silent Hill) but this game really failed to deliver. At first I didn't want to believe the harsh reviews I saw on websites and magazines, but I ended up learning the hard way. This game does have some nice graphics and some new innovative features like the combination of items to make special weapons and devices, but that's about as innovative as it's gonna get. The controls are pretty bad, especially the car scenes. The story lacks and voice acting is very immature tossing out as many bad words as they can put in the game, dont get me wrong I like my games with girls, violence, and cussing as much as the next but there's a certain way of doing it to make it seem pivotle to the story and not just ...

  • Alone in the Dark (Xbox 360)

Very nice innovative game from Eden Games and Atari which probably has the best facial graphics I've ever seen in a game (but not the best animations)- somewhat cheesy storyline and odd pacing style, but overall a cool experience to play, reasons being, one can break down doors manually with objects, make Molotovs and some other fun contraptions, hot wire cars, and a ton of other flavors to the game which make it like a perilistic journey of kill or be killed (while figuring out who the hell you are).
