Genesis embraced the new medium of music videos quickly and effectively in the early 1980s, and this proved to be a crucial factor in helping them achieve their impressive popularity. Phil Collins, Tony Banks, and Mike Rutherford were the driving forces behind the band in this period, though former singer Peter Gabriel does make an appearance. Thirty-two videos are collected here, spanning more than two decades, and including both the group's biggest hits and its more obscure and experimental songs, with moods ranger from somber to exuberant. "No Son of Mine," "I Can't Dance," "Misunderstanding," and "Invisible Touch" will be remembered by most MTV viewers of that era, as well as the bizarre video for "Land of the Lost," with its puppet versions of the band members (and, of course, the Reagans). Also included here is some rare BBC footage of a "Paperlate" performance, and Peter Gabriel's appearance in the 1999 version of "Carpet Crawlers," one of this collection's more interesting moments both musically and visually. With its readily accessible, emotional, and catchy brand of pop, Genesis has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, and the reasons for that success are evident in this comprehensive retrospective.

This is the second time I've bought this! It is such a great value, with so many great songs, and absolutely phenomenal dts 5.1 surround sound mixes. The sound quality also is amazing on these dts mixes. I've also purchased the CD/DVD combo of "A Trick Of The Tail". These combos actually have dts 96/24, and I'm so impressed I'm going to buy the bulk of the Genesis SACD/DVD Audio combos, which are a bit more, but I'm certain the DSD multichannel mixes are worth it. Update 2/20/22 Getting ready to purchase this a THIRD time!!! For $10 or so you get a plethora of awesome songs in Multichannel dts Surround Sound…soooo many great surround mixes!!!This is the second time I've bought this! Everything about this dvd is great....the music, the performers....however...the audio quality is terrible!! Whatever setting I put it on...the sound seems to soften!! This usually happens with music dvds...and that's the reason why I still buy video tapes...because you would never see this problem. Once you set the sound to a certain level...it drops down 2 or 3 notches once the singer starts singing(for some reason)!! Sometimes, the sound seems too loud, or too soft during each video!! I'm not pleased...A+ for Phil Collins, and Genesis...C for audio quality...A+ for picture qualityEverything about this dvd is great....the music, the performers....however...the audio quality is terrible!! This had everything that made Genesis great!
Genesis has always been a favorite group and both my husband and myself. We needed to update our material and found this included a lot of what we were looking for and then some. Wow! What a wonderful video collection! Their music is a really different sound and the words to some of the songs really make you stop and think. We couldn't be happier!
