Although the book has very beat up characteristics such as it missing parts of the cover at least it’s laminatedAnd that just means that the book has character. It shows that someone actually read the book and that it was someone’s favorite book at one point so it just makes the books so much more worth buying. I recommend anyone who is willing to get a Stephen King as Richard Bockman book that they should just because you’ll never know when you’ll find a rare item is this ever again and for such a good price.

I found three of the four stories to be very interesting reads. Rage was a disturbing story that looks into why one kid decided to flip out one day, kill two teachers, and hold a classroom hostage. The Long Walk was the reason why I purchased this book. It's a story about a marathon that goes on until there's only one kid left standing, and it kept me entertained from the beginning until the end. The Running Man was also a very readable futuristic thriller. It revolves around a game show in which a man gains money for every hour he stays alive. The story was nothing at all like the movie. Roadwork was a story that didn't interest me enough to get into it.
I fell in love with this book the first time I read it when in grade school. In an interview I read somewhere, I remember King said it was the only story he would rather have not published. Only because of how it was received, the damage blamed to it. I believe it is a study in teens we'd do well to remember. We were, almost all of us, heathen at that age. Some truths are timeless. Kids are cruel. This book is out of print, the story "Rage" has been blamed (by some) for the Columbine Colorado High School murder spree several years back. "Rage" is about Charlie, A 17 year old guy who just snaps. "The Long Walk" is about Ray Garraty, under 18 because that's the rule, takes the challenge for the ultimate prize, everything he wants for the rest of his life, but he has to win. In "Roadwork", Barton Dawes facing the government on eminent domain. How swift the decent to madness. The last story is "Running Man". That one was also a movie with Arnold "Gov of CA" Schwarzenegger. Ben Richards becomes a contestant on the ultimate game show. As a whole, the Bachman Books is early King, When he was at his twisted, psychotic best. An absolute must have for readers old enough for the concepts. I have two copies... so far.Read full review
