full of humour whilst sensitive at the same time
This is a really brilliant series that sadly only ran for 2 seasons. This DVD set is for the complete season 1 episodes. Full of really quirky humour, and would appeal to those with a great sense of humour. Deals with the issues of life after death in a fun way whilst being sensitive too. Highly recommended for all.

Dead Like Me, Should Have Been The Next Buffy.
I have to say I didn't catch this series from day one. It didn't sound like something I'd take to, and being a fan of Buffy, Star Trek, Dr Who, perhaps it was something in the way it was initially advertised, that failed to get my interest. That said, from the moment I finally did get to see it I was hooked. The series premise is that there's more to life than life itself, however unlike Highway to Heaven, Walk With an Angel or any of the other overly religious shows that can sometimes come from America, this was a breath of fresher, or should I say darker air. Georgie Lass is the heroine of the series, a rather unlikely candidate, as she is a rather petulant teenager, struggling with the change from child to adult, who within a minute of the start is struck dead by a toilet seat from the ... That said, from the moment I finally did get to see it I was hooked. The series premise is that there's more to life than life itself, however unlike Highway to Heaven, Walk With an Angel or any of the other overly religious shows that can sometimes come from America, this was a breath of fresher, or should I say darker air. Georgie Lass is the heroine of the series, a rather unlikely candidate, as she is a rather petulant teenager, struggling with the change from child to adult, who within a minute of the start is struck dead by a toilet seat from the falling Russian Space Station Mier, as it returns to Earth. In her sudden demise she is aided by a reaper, who removes her soul moments before the end to help her transition, and she finds that far from being told to 'move towards the light', she is instead recruited to become one of these strange undead helpers. I say strange because these people are far from the angels we are used to seeing, and in return for the help they give, they will happily steal from their prey, even squat in their apartments if they can. They are an unlikely band, each on occasion showing kindness and a cold heart, and they have a perspective on life and death that I've never seen on a TV show before. The series is both dark and yet funny, you see a lot of death, and not always in rose coloured circumstances. It shows you the warmth of a human spirit, but the fleetingness and irrelevance of life, and it does it in a way that makes you think as well as laugh. The characters are great, and the show does what all cult shows try, in that it never lets you know quite where it's going, but never lets your interest drop in reaching the point. For anyone who has ever wondered about the life after, or who enjoys a dry comedy, or who just likes the plainly different, Dead Like Me is a show that will stay with you for a long time.
