The MXR Carbon Copy Deluxe has freaked my head. I’ve been playing guitars for the best part of 40 years. Without question, this is one of the absolute best sounding delays. Before buying, you need to do some research: analogue (or analog if you’re not from the UK) delay pedals produce a different sounding repeat compared to their digital cousins. You won’t get pristine sounding infinite repeats with analogue. Each repeat decays and gets murkier, which is a quality of the Bucket Brigade chips that I love. The CC Deluxe has a “Bright” mode to help combat the darkening of the repeats, but the decay remains. I absolutely love the delays that the MXR Carbon Copy Deluxe produces. Paired with a separate momentary switch to toggle between paramaters (I have it set up to switch between normal and bright), it ‘s a dream of a pedal. My only gripe is that the battery cover protrudes too far from the unit’s base. Not a problem if it won’t be mounted on a pedalboard. Annoying if it will be.Read full review
