I had read mixed reviews - some stating it made the fan very noisy, others that it simply didn't work. I decided to take a chance. It appears well made; a rotary dial adjusts the speed of the fan. As you reduce speed, an underlying audible hum can be heard from the fan but it is not overly intrusive (my fan is a large one) and I can now set it to run much slower. The controller runs cool too. Recommended.
