    "Hollywood on Hollywood."

    My idea is that "The Last Tycoon" was a follow up to the success of Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby". I haven't seen T.G.G so cant't compare. However like de Niro's character (Monroe Stahr) the themes of Power in business and love are very central to the story. The film does play out well the mystery of Stahr's muse with a resolution he has to endure. The final scenes with Brady (Mitchum) eke out Stahr's megalomania well. However I was left confused and disappointed by the final scene in the hanger.
