About this product
Product Information
Is it possible to die a happy death? This is the central question of Camus's astonishing early novel, published posthumously and greeted as a major literary event. It tells the story of a young Algerian, Mersault, who defies society's rules by committing a murder and escaping punishment, then experimenting with different ways of life and finally dying a happy man.In many ways A Happy Death is a fascinating first sketch for The Outsider, but it can also be seen as a candid self-portrait, drawing on Camus's memories of his youth, travels and early relationships. It is infused with lyrical descriptions of the sun-drenched Algiers of his childhood - the place where, eventually, Mersault is able to find peace and die 'without anger, without hatred, without regret'.

- 9***h (335)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseAccurately described, fairly priced, excellent communication and timely delivery. Through no fault of the sender the book arrived in ripped packaging with damaged pages and having been run over by a pallet truck or similar machinery whilst in transit with Whistle. The sender promptly refunded the purchase price and apologised although blameless. I have no qualms buying from them in the future just in their choice of delivery firm. The Hungry Empire : How Britain's Quest for Food Shaped the Moder (#116517745537)
- n***n (68)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseItem arrived well packaged and in reasonable time, the description said it was an ex library book but didn’t say how well used the condition was,at least it was in a protective plastic cover, don’t think it was good value for the price but I have bought many books from this seller so I can forgive the oversight this time …would still use this company again and recommend them.great ebayer usually
