About this product

Product Information

'He is king among food writers' Nigella Lawson 'Slater's best book' Diana Henry, Sunday Telegraph A Cook's Book is the story of Nigel Slater's life in the kitchen. From the first jam tart Nigel made with his mum standing on a chair trying to reach the Aga, through to what he is cooking now, this is the ultimate Nigel Slater collection brimming with over 200 recipes. He writes about how his cooking has changed from discovering the best way to roast a chicken to the trick to smoky, smooth aubergine mash. He gives the tales behind the recipes and recalls the first time he ate a baguette in Paris, his love of jewel-bright Japanese pickled radishes and his initial slice of buttercream-topped chocolate cake. These are the favourite recipes Nigel Slater cooks at home every day; the heart and soul of his cooking. Chapters include: a slice of tart, a chicken in the pot, everyday greens, the solace of soup and the ritual of tea. This is the essential Nigel Slater.

Book is brand new and in excellent condition but NOT what I ordered or what is stated in the advert! (Please see attached photos. Book was posted and received promptly, but the book I ordered states clearly it’s the ‘Hardback’ edition. What I got was the paperback edition. I ordered a hardback copy for a reason feel and like I’ve been deceived (how many others I wonder?). Misleading advertising or genuine mistake? On this occasion I’ll give ‘bookwanderers’ the benefit of doubt.

Initially there was an issue with my purchase because of an error of my home address & my books went to a different address🤦🏻‍♂️. After contacting the team @ bookwanderers they informed me they were going to send me the books I ordered to my actual address although they were NOT at fault in any of this! I can’t express my gratitude enough & these books are exactly what I expected! Thank you sooo much bookwanderers. I will tell many about your store & my great result with you. Thanks again

    Great recipes, great read.

In my opinion, this is one of Nigel Slater’s best books. I think there is something in it for everyone. The book is mainly meat based but there are some interesting and simple vegetarian recipes. I love his writing style, so this is a great read, as well as the enticing recipes.
