Synopsis
The Chili Line was the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad's narrow gauge route from Antonito, Colorado, to Santa Fe, New Mexico. It operated along its 125-mile route from 1880 to 1941. The Chili Line received its unique nickname from the chili peppers which farmers along the route would string on lines to dry. This book celebrates the history of the railroad, as well as people and places along the line. The Chili Line passed through Hispanic villages and Indian Pueblos, and its effect upon them is noted. Travelers today can still find traces of the Chili Line in existence, such as railroad depots in Antonito, Embudo, and Santa Fe. Water tanks can be seen in Tres Piedras and Embudo. Roadbed for the tracks may still be seen along the Rio Grande. Historic photos of railroad operations at these places are included in the book, as well as contemporary photos showing the same sites today. Maps are included to allow readers to track the Chili Line's route. The Chili Line Railroad to Santa Fe takes readers along the route of a long-abandoned rail line, but one still very much alive in the hearts of rail fans and history lovers today., Explores the 125-mile route's history, impact, and lasting connections between Colorado and New Mexico. I bought 2 lots of books from this seller; both were shipped in the same box, so I'll just repeat the feedback I left for the other half of the order: Superb packaging! I've been collecting old paperbacks for ... well, a long time, and these were the best-wrapped, best protected, best shipped box 'o books I've ever received! The books themselves were exactly as described in the photos, and the per-book value (using the advanced mathematics formula: total price / no. of books) was wonderful

I love to collect vintage paperbacks, and have been looking for this title for awhile. I thought it was an excellent find, at a good value. The seller shipped the book on time, and packaged it in a way to protect it in the shipping process. When it arrived, it was exactly as described in the listing. I would highly recommend this seller to others!

I'm so happy with everything about this purchase! The price was very good, the book was in New condition (I bought it at a used price, but the book is new), and packaged with care- safe against rain and very secure. ALSO, I am surprised how fast the package arrived! I seen ''media mail" so I figured it would take awhile, but I had it by the end of the week. I am SO happy with this seller! Thank you!!
