Lens arrived in perfect condition. Seller responded quickly when there appeared to be a problem with delivery. Not so happy with Evri. On Saturday got repeated messages from Evri saying they could not deliver and to claim a refund from the seller. Then the lens turned up this afternoon Wed 25/06/2025. No thanks to the Evri courier who made no effort to deliver the package to me, but left it lying on my next door neighbour back step.

Truly great...
I had been considering stepping up to FX format from a D7100 in the quest for better image quality but the D500 seemed to tick boxes in many areas [I mainly do outdoor plant / nature photog. and a lot of Macro work]. I've only had the camera a few weeks but the image quality (sharpness certainly) I feel is noticeably better than the 7100. The fast focussing system is great for shooting plant foliage which constantly moves with air movement, while the fantastic screen / viewfinder coverage of the auto-focus system means that focus-recompose is unnecessary on many shots, and has proven to be a real boon when doing table top still life work. Which reminds me of another item... there's no built-in flash with the D500... not that I'd use it since I use triggers with multiple speedlights for ... The 10fps continuous shutter speed is advantageous in outdoor circumstances where I am trying to shoot moving foliage. In the past I would have to wait minutes for the ebb and flow of breezes to subside to be sure of getting a precisely focused image. Now, with full burst mode combined with focus tracking, that issue is less of a problem. Haven't had need of the high native ISO capability but it's good to know it's there if I had a tricky shots to do in dark outdoors circumstances. Ergonomically well laid out, and if you are used to Nikon's other D series cameras you will feel at home with the menu system. Haven't really used the touch-screen, which some folks complain about not being fully touchscreen for menu selection etc. Live with it, it's not a problem. Two pernickety things... my old digital shutter release [with micro usb type connector] is no longer catered for, in terms of sockets - at least as far as I can see. While the new form of RAW file (which I always shoot in) was not compatible with Lightroom 5.7x and for viewing with other Windows 8.1 Pro bits of software. However, Nikon released a codec update in May '16 which fixed the problem (avail. on Nikon Europe website certainly). Like all cameras, and lenses too, you need to choose according to your shooting needs. For me the D500 ticks useful boxes for what I do, while offering some really stunning performance attributes behind the scenes.

this is a n amazeing bit kit its a lot lighter compaired to the d7000 the picture quality is fantastic and the feel of it is outstanding cant say no more really if you have a passion for photography this is a must highly recommend it

Brilliant D500
The D500 is a superb camera. Great focusing, particularly in continuous mode, with very few shots in a burst sequence being out of focus. The handling is also fantastic, particularly if you own a D800 series as the controls are very similar. The weight is just about right with most pro lenses feeling very nice on the body. Images are sharp of course although I would have preferred a few more megapixels to play with for cropping etc, however, that might have negated the D500's standout feature which is its incredible burst mode which sounds like a machine gun. The highest complement I can pay it is that because of the flexibility of shooting and pleasure in use, I have hardly used my D810.The D500 is a superb camera. Moving up from a D5x series enthusiast dslr, the D500 is not so difficult to use. It merely takes getting used to. It is a pro DX format dslr and wow!!!!! It focuses in near darkness and the high iso images are incredible. It is also fast, fast, fast with an endless buffer! Excellent RAW and JPEG image quality. No flash though but pro cameras often don't have one and off camera flash/ lighting is better after all. You can connect the D500 via bluetooth, wifi and nfc to your mobile phone and transfer your photos via the Snapbridge app, for upload to social media. Purchased a few weeks ago, perfect condition and functioning correctly. The shots from this camera are extraordinary!! Ease of use is exceptional. I had the d300 before and most of the function buttons are in the same location only a lot more advanced and so much quicker! Bravo to Nikon for making a greater than great camera. Super happy with this camera!
