    Compromise or choice?

What do you go for? Weight? Maximum aperture? Price? Value? Features? Build? Size? This lens is light, decent aperture and good focal range, nice price and great value. It stays the same size at any focal length or focus and the power zoom has proved to be surprisingly handy (and yes it has a zoom ring as well). This is a very good lens lens with a great balance of features that makes for a versatile and portable telephoto zoom in harmony with the micro four thirds design philosophy.

  • Very cool

I love this lens and keep it perminately attached to my lumix. I like the fact that I can control it manually if needed, and that the lens stays the same length when zooming etc as we all know most telephoto lenses extend themselves when zooming this one doesn't there for no risk of sucking dirt and crap into the lens used in Egypt in the desert couldn't fault it great resolution, used it peru ,no issues even had it tucked inside my biker jacket whilst out and about no issues..Good bit of kit...

  • This lens is mechanically excellent, great value for money

This lens is mechanically excellent, great value for money, does not extend or rotate during zooming nor focusing. Optically it is not top notch but considering their price and size its great performer. Ideal for video shooter thanks to PZ functionality. Has IS and versatile zoom range. For me this lens is the best cheap telezoom for m4/3. M.

  • A quality versatile zoom lens that produces sharp images and light enough to carry all day.

This is a premium Panasonic G X series lens and it does look and feel a cut above the regular G series lenses. A huge benefit of this lens is that the Power OIS is compatible with the dual stabilisation on the Panasonic GH5. It is amazing to me that I can hand hold at maximum zoom which is equivalent to a 350mm lens yet still get blur free images at 1/30 second. I am loving the clear sharp images that it produces. Recently I have been filming bees on the comfrey flowers. To produce even closer images I have also used this lens with extension tubes and it then makes a very cheap lens for close-up work.

  • Design Marvel

I picked up the 45-175 after some research to pair with my Panasonic G9 and Leica 12-60 as a lightweight micro 4/3 travel outfit. I was preferring this to an 'all in one' setup with a superzoom and I think I made the right decision. This is, in short, a wonderful thing to use. Its optically up to snuff, has very little distortion and offers decent reach (up to 350mm in 35mm equivalent terms) and weighs only 210 grams! Phenomenal. Essentially I'm getting the similar performance to my Nikon 70-300 VR in a package less than half the size and less than 1/3 the weight. Additionally, it has been designed with video use in mind, so has all internal zooming via power switch or manually (fly by wire I should add), which is completely silent. Focusing is likewise internal. Perfect for video or ...
