Excellent Sound Quality!!!
Sound Quality Review: All of the Scorpions 50th Anniversary remasters sound amazing! While the volume is noticeably a lot louder the quality of the sound isnt hindered and is actually crisp and clear! 5 Star rating for the remastering job alone! Album Review: In my personal opinion, Blackout is Scorpions best overall effort in their career. Highlights from the album include, the major hit that launched Scorpions into mainstream radio, "No One Like You". It also includes the minor hit "Can't Live Without You". Some of their best relatively unknown songs fill up the rest of the album. "China White" is an amazing heavy rock jam that is best listened to with the volume cranked all the way up. "Blackout" is a great starter song that kicks the album off as a fast paced rocker. "You Give Me All I Need" and "Arizona" aren't heavy, but are just good ol' rock jams. "Dynamite" is another fast paced rocker with some killer guitar work. "When the Smoke is Going Down" ends the album as its only ballad. "Now!" is probably the lowest point of the album as it gets to be too bold and busy, but it is still a good song nonetheless. Bonus Tracks Review: With the 50th anniversary edition you get 4 bonus tracks, 3 of which are Demo Songs. All three Demo Songs keep the magic of Blackout going, just as though they were meant to be on the album all along. The demo version of "Blackout" just doesn't do anything for me but can be a fresh take on a familiar song. "Running for the Plane" is the best bonus track on this CD, I think it fits perfectly into the mix of the Blackout album and could have been a hit if it was given the chance. "Sugar Man" is a little repetitive but has a good beat and is fun to listen to. "Searching for the Rainbow" has a killer riff that you can really rock out to, definitely a hidden gem that got lost along the way. Bonus DVD Review: If you're into Live concert videos then this is the release for you. It includes a concert from December 17th, 1983 and includes two extra songs that weren't broadcasted at the time, "The Zoo" and "Make it Real". This DVD also contains two music video's for "No One Like You" and "Arizona", the quality is decent but can't be enhanced much due to the limitations for video recording in 1983. Last on the bonus DVD is the documentary of Blackout. Which is a great bit for any die hard Scorpions fan out there. Packaging Review: Blackout is really well put together in a trifold digipak style case. High quality printing on all levels. It also includes a booklet that is well put together, complete with lyrics for all of the original albums songs. The best part of the booklet is the history it shares of Blackouts original release. It also includes several pictures of the band from that era. While the price is a bit steep it's the best version of Blackout on the market. The bonus content, while a little light for the high price, is a great addition and worth it in the long run. If you are a die hard Scorpions fan I highly recommend this edition. If you are new to the band and are looking to expand your Scorpions catalog I highly recommend starting with Blackout before their other 50th Anniversary albums Lovedrive, Animal Magnetism, Love at First Sting and Savage Amusement. 5 Star Album!
