    Levin Ring Cycle

    Bare bones packaging but a tremendous value. An impressive cast well led by James Levin, the Metropolitan Opera does an excellent job of a complete cycle over a few years. The opening cords of Das Rheingold are some of my favorite measures of music. Even though it is recorded over a few years using a varied cast the flow from each opera admirably transitions into the next. I was not a Wagner fan for many years ( I'm a big fan of Italian and French opera) but a recent recording of Lohengrin made me take another look at his work. I'm glad I did.
