After 6 years my Kindle 5th gen reader would no longer hold it's charge. A replacement is £50 but a new battery is £9.50. Fitting is tricky. I used a 2mm flat watchmakers screwdriver and a small penknife. You have to battle past plastic lugs, glue and tiny screws but it can be done. There is a helpful video on YouTube (of course) with a helpful tip - heat the casing with a hair dryer to soften the glue. It's very satisfying when it's working again.
