  • Second Album from Easterhose New Wave Band from Glasgow...

I was unaware that any other Easterhouse material existed except "Contenders" as I found this album years ago in a used music store and have never seen anything mentioned in any publication about this captivating group. Apparently named after a blue collar housing project in Glasgow, Easterhouse seeth on this album with the bitterness and depression that were (and may still be) prevalent in eighties working-class Britain. The searing title track seems to be a plaintive lament that the only hope for the nation is the return to power of a genuine leftist (Labour) party, the triumph of which is difficult to envisage whilst crushing apathy remains the predominant national pastime. • A let down

Anyone familiar with the first easterhouse album will probably be disappointed with this one. While the lyrics, themes and ideals are the same the music on this album is sorely lacking. The music is no where near as engaging as the first album which was superb.
