Additional Information
Pop culture sponges Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost team up again for HOT FUZZ, their follow-up to the hit movie SHAUN OF THE DEAD. HOT FUZZ follows a near-identical formula to its predecessor, simply replacing the various homages to horror movies by heaping on the adulation for action flicks such as POINT BREAK and BAD BOYS II--both of which are referenced throughout. The plot finds outstanding London-based police officer Nicholas Angel (Pegg) transferred to a rural village. On arrival, Angel teams up with the oaf-like PC Danny Butterman (Frost) and together they investigate a series of mysterious murders, all of which are classed as æaccidentsÆ by the increasingly strange townsfolk. Director Wright combines gory set-pieces with traditional action-movie staples: moustachioed detectives in sunglasses, corny one-liners, rapid machine-gun fire, and blood-spattered fight scenes all feature heavily. References to other movies come thick and fast throughout, and HOT FUZZ will have film fans' memories working overtime as they try to catch all the allusions to Pegg, Wright, and Frost's favourite films. A veritable Who's Who of British comedy provides support, with Martin Freeman (THE OFFICE), Bill Bailey (BLACK BOOKS), Steve Coogan (I'M ALAN PARTRIDGE), and Olivia Colman (PEEP SHOW) in small roles. In addition, Timothy Dalton plays the movieÆs bad guy with aplomb. HOT FUZZ eases up on the humour of SHAUN OF THE DEAD and often threatens to topple over into Chuck Norris territory, but Wright manages to insert enough gags to keep the balance just about perfect, providing a fitting, amusing, and occasionally touching homage to cinemaÆs action heroes.

    • Hot Fuzz Dvd

Woo, woo it's the sound of the police: straight after bashing the undead in Shaun, Simon Pegg tools up for Hot Fuzz, a criminally funny cop movie parody that plays like Bad Boys II meets Midsomer Murders (and we mean that as a compliment). Pegg stars as top London rozzer Nicholas Angel, transferred to a sleepy Somerset village by his jealous colleagues. It's supposed to be an easy gig, but pretty soon the city plod's up to his helmet in murder... Keeping the genre-busting humour of Shaun - just without the zombies - Hot Fuzz is described as "a British Shane Black movie". They're not kidding - 20 minutes of heavily stylised, slow-mo gun porn sees Nicholas and partner Danny (Nick Frost) - "Crockett and Tubby" - turn the village into a smoking wreck. Yet that's just the finale of a movie ...

    • Jog on...

PC Nicholas Angel is transferred from the Met to a small village. His new partner is the clown PC Danny Butterman and together they investigate a series of very strange murders, all of which are classed as ‘accidents’ by the half witted local police. Angel does things by the book, to start with, but learns some moves from Hollywood movies and the closing scenes are a parody of the worst of them. There are glimpses of the classic Christopher Lee film "The Wicker man" only much funnier. The film starts slowly but by the end it doesn't stop for breath. Forget the hype, watch the film. Jog on....

    • Hot Fuzz Film Review

Hot Fuzz, is from the Shaun of the Dead team which in my opinion is a great film. Though retaining the same spirit as Shaun, director Edgar Wright and co-writer Simon Pegg have came up with an entirely new and fresh batch of characters and created a wonderful world for them to play in. Nicholas Angel is a londan cop who, too many of his department is a annoyance, Hes trained in every area, through extra work. Which to the rest of them, is to much hard work and it makes them look bad at the job as they haven't. So one morning he is called in to the office to be told that they are sending him to the country. As soon as he arrives in the West Country village of Sanford, he immediately start work, but on the surface, no crime ever happens, which he finds hard to beleive. When he offically ...

    • Thought this was going to be HILARIOUS!

I wouldn't go out of my way to buy this on DVD, after seeing it at the cinema most of the film is aimed at cheap laughs which have been done a million times before.. Shaun of the Dead was 50 times better than this, if you enjoyed that don't expect this film to be as great. I was amazed to see a "special edition" with "bonus features" in SAINSBURYS! I only got 2 real decent laughs out of it. However there are some excellent action sequences car chases etc, the storyline is OK. Not really to my taste

    • Worth a look

Top London cop, Police Constable Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg), finds himself reassigned to the sleepy West Country village of Sandford. With garden fetes and neighbourhood watch meetings replacing the action of the city, Angel struggles to adapt to his situation and finds himself partnered with Danny Butterman (Nick Frost), an oafish but well meaning young Constable. Just as all seems lost, a series of grisly accidents motivates Angel into action. Convinced of foul play, Angel realises that Sandford may not be as idyllic as it seems.
