DVD was heavily scratched and did not play back entirely after the first 38 minutes. I doubt it was fully tested as promised. I didn't seek to return it since, as a collector of film memorabilia, I've seen the film before and only actually wanted the case with its inlay card... and it was at least worth the cheap price for that. But the experience did mean I would think twice before purchasing from this source for a film I actually wanted to watch.

This is the original film but is the uncut version. It reveals the sort of incidents which you might expect to experience in a British country village. It stars Dustin Hoffman as an American mathematician who arrives in a rural village with his British wife (played by Susan George) to try and find the peace and quiet so that he can concentrate on his work. After this point in the film things begin to liven up. Expect to see some strong violence and a lot more. Well acted and directed,This is the original film but is the uncut version. The film was entertaining as expected. There were a couple of minor problems: 1/ The DVD player didn’t recognise the disc, so I had to keep opening and closing the drawer before the disc was recognised. 2/ The disc wouldn’t continue from where it was left, so I had to run it through from the beginning every time.

Powerful Drama
This film came out in 1971 ( I was 17) and I never saw it until I bought the DVD . Susan George , and a Triumph Stag are two good reasons to watch this violent drama . Dustin Hoffman is excellent .Right from the start there is a sense of menace ,the local's don't like strangers , DH is an American ,the tension builds ..
