Reviews
"...Sound of White Noise Is a Work of Considerably more Lasting Value than Expected...", "...SOUND OF WHITE NOISE is the album Anthrax have been threatening to make for the last 10 years. It's their apotheosis--epic, hi-tech, chromium-plated metal machine music....", 3.5 Stars - Very Good - "...packs a fat sonic wallop...this is state-of-the-art mosh-pit manna, about as good as modern metal gets...a powerful comeback from a group that never went away...", 3 Stars - Good - "...an in-your-face explosion of chugging riffs and spine-tingling solos. Ex-Armored Saint vocalist John Bush's vocals complement guitarist Scott Ian's distinctive harmonies... there's plenty to keep the brain throbbing...", "...a sure bet to inject the iron-poor blood of rock's mainstream with the glorious kick of progressive power metal..." - Rating: B+

  • Best Anthrax album ever

I remember when they released this album. I was 18 and bought the CD that year, but I always wanted the edition with the skull printed.

  • good, heavy mettle from one of the big 4

i had this album on tape many years ago, it's has some of their best work since persistence of time, it still sounds as fresh as it did then. if you like you're mettle heavy, buy this album!

  • An underrated 90s metal classic

"Sound of White Noise" is arguably one of Anthrax's finest albums and certainly amongst the best of the John Bush era. Sadly, the album was released just prior to a significant dip in the general popularity of metal and, as such, has never really received the mainstream recognition it deserves. Each track is memorable in its own way and there's no filler here but highlights include "Packaged Rebellion" (anti-Axl?), "1000 Points of Hate" and the atmospheric "Black Lodge" (a genuine departure for the band). Anthrax are experiencing something of a resurgence at present and certainly were excellent on the UK leg of their recent reunion tour with previous singer Joey Belladonna. Despite that being their most commercially successful line-up, and having recorded some classic albums tracks ...
