Brilliant and totally absorbing.
The Century trilogy makes for superb reading. The characters which run through the books are expertly described and brought to life and the storyline is very absorbing. The background is the troubled times which led to both world wars so; is full of drama. He makes the evolution of the Russian communist state absolutely understandable and what could have been a dull subject becomes totally absorbing. The same can be said for the rise of Hitler and all that followed. You would, of course, be well advised to read the three books in the correct chronoligcal order as characters are introduced in sequence and you would miss some of this skillfull writing. Kenn Follett knows how to grip the reader so don't be put off when you see that the books are thick: you will find them a very easy read and ... The Century trilogy makes for superb reading. A Ken Follett masterpiece
I was so looking forward to reading this book. As it has over 1000 pages I needed to be sure I would have the time to give this book the attention it needed. It is very factual and quite illuminating on the events that occurred during my teen years. It made the conversations my parents had more understandable. Recommend this to the younger generation who have no idea what the world was like during the 60s. It wasn't all flower power and drugs!I was so looking forward to reading this book.
