4 out of 5 - "...Magnificent showing...Their finest hour.", 4 stars out of 5 - "...Winwood's haunting vocals are cool and restrained while the combination of subtle musicianship, relaxed jamming and a timeless title track ensure this retains its classic status.", "...as musicians Winwood and Traffic have never played better...The longest and the best cut on the album is the title track...creative ensemble playing..."

  • you need to buy this now

a very well developed and more mature sound from Traffic compared to the earlier stuff with excellent vocals...as expected... and some great jazzy bits. the flute playing is beautiful, all of the instrumentation is astoundingly good and each track is finely crafted...I cant stop listening to it....if you are into Traffic...or just want some great music in your life...you need to buy this right now.

  • Very modest review of a great album

Bought blind, but on recomendatiion. Very good piece of work, encompassing multiple different musical styles , brilliant musicianship and have now gone on to buy a further four of Traffic's albums.

  • One of the best sounds in the world, even now. Thanks.

This marked a turning point in the way Traffic were going at the time. Steve Winwood does his best vocals, almost haunting at times. I sometimes feel that he's going to burst when I hear, what can only be described as, restraint...as if he's still holding back. All this plus excellent music that takes me along with it to familiar heights (I first had this as a vinyl album in 1974) but it was a new discovery for the person I am now, hearing it after all these years, but the old familiar magic is still there...timeless....I suppose that's what makes a true classic.
