My Seiko 5 is now forty years old. I’m wearing it as I write this. It still keeps remarkable time and always has. I’ve not measured it as I’ve never felt the need. It sits in a watch box surrounded by two Citizen “Atomic” perpetual watches. If I set them together and let the Seiko run down to a stop it may lose about 5 or 6 seconds against the Eco watches. Hhmmm which is the real Eco watch you may ask. I recently changed its acrylic crystal as that was scratched and polished the case and bracelet. It now looks really good again. It doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not. It’s now one of my treasured possessions. Truly fabulous watch. Sometimes a manufacturer will make a particular item that just excelled beyond everybody’s expectations. The Seiko 5 is such an item.

I had 5 watches in my collection prior to buying the Seiko 5 SNXS73, from a £10 casio that I wear at night to an Omega diver that I wear as my main watch. But I wanted to add a cheap but respectable automatic (Seiko 5 was the obvious choice) that I can wear with a tshirt as the weather starts to warm up. I wanted something smallish, light and conformable and something that would look good on the wrist without being too sporty. This Seiko seemed to fit the bill perfectly. The bracelet is light and hollow and dare I say a bit cheap feeling but it's no less that what I expected, and I actually like the look and feel of it, and I appreciate what the watch is meant to be, which is an affordable automatic that can be worn anywhere. My watch is currently running about 2 seconds slow a day so incredibly accurate so far but we'll see how it settles in over time. I'd prefer it to be a bit more water resistant as I'm reluctant to shower with it, even though I'm sure it would be fine. All round great watch for what I needed it for, it looks great (if im being cheeky a bit rolex datejust perhaps!) and for the price it's a steal. It fills a hole in my collection and I'll be definitely adding another Seiko soon (maybe an SKX or Sarb).Read full review

This is a decent everyday watch with no pretensions to being otherwise. It’s good looking, and so far has performed very well. I think it will be a good investment considering that is. used item.
