Be careful which version you order
there are now at least 3 differing 'mixes' of this outstanding Zappa album....and I for one am not totally convinced this is altogether an ''improvement'' Yes ,there are certain instruments/instrumentals picked out at different points which might be said to enhance the experience....but at the cost of other s being suppressed into the background....and taste is a personal thing. ....As an older 'fan' of the original from the late sixties I feel Ican get enough variation from changing settings on various controls on a decent Hi-Fi system.....or ,to a degree- by playing it on different systems......For me this just smacks of 'something for the engineering boys(and girls) to keep occupied.....while the introductory few seconds co-ordinating everyone perhaps being happily deleted ahead of ... there are now at least 3 differing 'mixes' of this outstanding Zappa album....and I for one am not totally convinced this is altogether an ''improvement'' Yes ,there are certain instruments/instrumentals picked out at different points which might be said to enhance the experience....but at the cost of other s being suppressed into the background....and taste is a personal thing. ....As an older 'fan' of the original from the late sixties I feel Ican get enough variation from changing settings on various controls on a decent Hi-Fi system.....or ,to a degree- by playing it on different systems......For me this just smacks of 'something for the engineering boys(and girls) to keep occupied.....while the introductory few seconds co-ordinating everyone perhaps being happily deleted ahead of track 4 or 5 I am left wondering just what has been achieved of any real value?
