Crouching Vampire, Hidden Fang
With the entrance of Vampire Romance in the popular reading section of most book stores, it has been a challenge to find stories that are consistent in their telling of an interesting scenario. The older generation of vampire stories like "Dracula" And "Interview With a Vampire" are so different from the books by Katie Macalister. I have only recently discovered Katie Macalister at my public library, which led me to both "Crouching Vampire, Hidden Fang", as well as "Zen and the Art of Vampires". I was even able to listen to the audiobook version of "Crouching Vampire...." which made the story even more interesting. Both Pia and Kristoff were believable characters, but Magda and Ray were a little "out there" especially with the seemingly easy way they accepted the special circumstances of ... Both Pia and Kristoff were believable characters, but Magda and Ray were a little "out there" especially with the seemingly easy way they accepted the special circumstances of Pia's gifts. The sequel to "Crouching Vampire....", "Zen...", I read afterward, because I felt the need to understand the so called "affair" that Pia had with Alec that had Kristoff so upset. The whole scenario reminded me of the triangle of "Buffy, Angel, and Spike," except for the fact that Buffy ended up with neither of them. I'm happy that Pia ended up with Kristoff, considering that Alec didn't show the same devotion to her as Kristoff. Also, I am disappointed that Mattias didn't find his own Beloved in this book. I hope that Katie will include him in another book down the road. As Vampire genre goes, Katie's series of vampire stories are interesting and humorous, moreso than many other authors who write vampire romances. Don't get me wrong, I like many of the other authors' works, but Katie's books are the only ones so far that make me smile through most of the chapters. The only negative I have to say about the book is that many of the concepts about the hierarchy of the vampire society are not explained and the books could use a dictionary to define some of the unfamiliar terms in the story. Otherwise, it is a great book to read. Keep up the great works!

this book had a good bark and a good bite!
I ordered it because i had read the prequel, Zen and the Art of Vampires and they were both really good. Katie Macalister knows how to use great characters and interesting concepts together to get great results. I don't see very many books with voluptuous characters. Her main character Pia may be a little pudgy, but she's so cute and funny, who wouldn't want to love more of her. This book is definitely on the funny side so if you need a good laugh along with some sexy vampires, and even a bit of suspense then you should definitely sink your teeth into this one! :[ -(If you look closely at the smiley face it almost looks like those are fangs)I ordered it because i had read the prequel, Zen and the Art of Vampires and they were both really good. I thourghly loved the book. Everyone of her books has been good. I have a hard time putting her books down. Anyone who likes paranormal vampire novels would love this book. I know I did.

Good Book!
Fell in love with Pia and Kristoff in Zen and the Art of the Vampire and this book, Crouching Vampire, Hidden Fang soothes the soul where these two are concerned. Hoping Katie Macalister will follow these characters in another installment of the Dark Ones series....Loved it!
