Follow a skilled criminal profiler, Will Graham (Hugh Dancy), as he teams with devious psychiatrist Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) to solve murders. Some of the investigations include a string of family murders, and copycat killers. Series 2 follows Will Graham's continuing battle to prove his innocence while trying to disprove Hannibal's. Graham's trial faces multiple interruptions when it appears that he and his alleged crimes have gained an admirer who seems to want to control Graham's fate. Elsewhere, other members of the FBI have started closing the net around Hannibal causing him to act in order to save himself.

Box set arrived in 2 days. Picture, audio, & subtitles all good. Although Mikkelsen has the title part as Lecter, it is Dancy as empathic FBI consultant, Graham, who is the real star. In a victory for geeks, he is charmless, vulnerable, and full of self-doubt. Early on, it s less, whether Graham finds the killer, than will he go off the rails? FBI boss Fishburne employs a menagerie of other interesting oddballs, including Lecter. The series somewhat normalises sick killing.

Hugh Dancy is excellent as the sensitive, empathic manhunter. However, there was too much bloody, ritualistic violence against women for my taste.
Early on, at least, it's Hugh Dancy as the sensitive, empathic manhunter who's the main star. Mikkelsen (Lecter) is a quieter presence as the intellectual leader of a managerie of misfits employed by operational boss, Fishburne, to investigate ritual murders and serial killers. I made it through 3 episodes OK. But then, the accumulation of bloody, ritualistic violence against women, and Lecter's corrupting influence on a potentially homicidal young woman, all became too much to stomach.
