Ballet infused retelling of the Cinderella story.

Delightful feel good movie starring Leslie Caron and Michael Wilding. Incredible ballet sequences woven into the movie with Caron as the principal dancer. Was interesting to see Miss Kitty (Amanda Blake) from tv's Gun Smoke as a step sister. Adding to the whimsy is the slightly off- kilter fairy godmother played by Estelle Winwood whose gift is finding things people didn't know they lost.

    Leslie Caron post Lilly

Wonderful Leslie Caron period piece. Great originality, Leslie (Cinderella) a chorewoman in a middle class French town at the time of French mid-century pre-Louis IV nobility with wigs and the Minuet, she is over pug-ash-aggressive as a poorly treated servant but who has spark and pizzaz, inadvertantly pushing the young Duke into the pond on his private preserve tha Caron believed was her private place for meditation and healing. He loves her energy and honesty saying to his father, "some men fall in live with fat women with fatty fold, others, anyone who slaps them in the face." Well, it seems, he is one of the latter. There is a scene when she realizes when the young duke is smitten, and she has a private invitation to the Ball, wher she shows the same dance routines that we saw in Lilly ...

  • Great for children

I loved this movie as a child and got it for my grandaughters that all sing and dance. They were well entertained and enlarged their vocabulary at the same time. It has humor and gives a different slant on the Cinderella story.

  • poorly made

content poorly acted and movie content is not well directed or written. Not to compare to later Leslie Caron performances
