I bought this controller cause I am a composer and produce my demos on Cubase Artist 7 & didn't have a keyboard that would fit my desk top. I read all the reviews and noted that this unit got the most bids so that finalized my choice, also I wanted aftertouch but the new price of this unit was 399.00, so was glad to buy one almost new for half the price. I like how the keyboard feels but the beat pads need to be more sensitive and its an easy fix per youtube videos & there are kits avail. The thing that drove me crazy was this was not a plug and play instrument, I spend days programming and online or manual help was dismal, I got my best advice from online forums. If your an advanced musician go for it, if you are a beginner I would start with a cheaper controller that auto sets itself
This keyboard cuts down time and enhances songs. A song that used to take me like 5 hours to do (my songs are very complex...many instruments, many breakdowns, buildups, many notes played, progressions, etc.) will now take me 30 min.-1 hr. Mixing the song is sooooo easy with the knobs and sliders. I also make sampled beats, and i dont feel like there's any keyboard that can sample the way the mpk49 does. The pads are very good and responsive, and it is so user friendly, even to a beginner. It looks like with all the buttons it would be confusing, but trust me, its easy as pie. It is very durable and reliable. Oh yeah, and the arpeggiator and latch are amazing. I haven't seen any other keyboards with this feature built in, but once you use it once, you will appreciate it so much. It makes instant melodies. I could talk about this keyboard for days, but since i cant, just go to a music store and try it out...play with it and get the feel for it, and you will want one so bad. P.S. this KILLS the m-audio axiom pro. My brother took his back just to get an mpk49 after i had mine only 1 dayRead full review
I an using fruity loops and needed a controller that was easy to use and with enough controls to be able to get the music how I wanted. I found it in the mpk49. All knobs and showers are great. The pads were upgraded and work well but I do not utilize them. All in all I am very impressed, especially for the price

I bought this product because I was tired of using my computer keyboard in my DAW. I really like the functionality of all the faders and transport buttons. The biggest con of this keyboard is when you are using the pad, you have to use a lot of force. They lack sensitivity. Other than that, this keyboard is fun and easy to use.
this keyboard is absolutely great. lugged it in to my computer, picked ableton in the menu on the keyboard, and i was instantly making music. such a simple set up. has all the bells and whistle anybody working with a home studio could ask for
