  • Unexpected, but brilliant

I've been meaning to read Carrie for a long time now but just never got around to it, so I decided to just buy the book and dedicate a day to Carrie. The thing that surprised me most about the book is that it isn't in chronological order. A lot of it is excerpts from magazines, newspapers and academic journals which are written after the climax of the story. These are interspersed throughout and really help you get inside of some of the characters heads, as well as learn a bit about the White family history. The sections about the TK gene were particularly interesting. Outside of this unexpected structure the story is brilliant. You really feel for Carrie White as well as the other characters to the point where you feel conflicted about what's going on. Really good read, definitely ...

Carrie isn’t a lengthy book but it was a very good read and I furnished it in one day.
