Popular American sitcom FRIENDS first appeared on our screens back in 1994 to little fanfare. The show followed the lives of six twentysomething singles--Monica (Courtney Cox), Rachel (Jennifer Aniston), Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow), Joey (Matt LeBlanc), Ross (David Schwimmer), and Chandler (Matthew Perry)--who occupied a trendy New York loft apartment. These were essentially six beautiful people who had probably never known a hard day's work in their lives, and whose every utterance was a well-crafted witticism. But despite their idealised lifestyles and perfectly coiffed hairdos, there was something annoyingly endearing about them. Viewers could easily relate to their struggles with work, sex, and relationships because these were universal struggles - albeit heightened for comedic effect. From early on it was clear that FRIENDS had successfully tapped into the zeitgeist of its time, and now, 10 series down the line, the show's broad appeal continues to live on in popular culture. NEVER GETS OLD!
I first saw Friends as the episodes were released and have seen it on countless occasions since. It still makes me chuckle and now that I have the boxed set, I can watch as many episodes as I like which is great to be able to do on a miserable winter's day. Obviously, there are a few scenes which do date it a little but I think it is a great set to have.

Unlike the previous Friends box sets below these Friends DVDs are all on single sided discs so are much easier to use. I Myself am a huge fan of friends but have only ever had the collection as downloads. I have owned several of the single DVDs for each series and collected as I went but never built a full collection. A close and dear friend of mine was going through a rough time and had worn out her box set So I saw this available and thought it would make a great present for her. So I decided to splash ... Release Date: 28th of September, 2009 The UK release of the complete series of Friends finally gets all the extended episodes, extras and commentaries that were previously only available in the US! Unlike the previous Friends box sets below these Friends DVDs are all on single sided discs so are much easier to use. I have owned several of the single DVDs for each series and collected as I went but never built a full collection. A close and dear friend of mine was going through a rough time and had worn out her box set So I saw this available and thought it would make a great present for her. So I decided to splash out on this 15th Anniversary Box Set. I received it about a month ago and have had it still in the box waiting for an opportunity to give it to her closer to Christmas. Yesterday I decided to check the set out and am really pleased. Not only does it come in a lovely presentation box but there are bundles of extras. 1) All episodes are the extended US versions which means some people who have the single DVD versions won't have this. 2) Each Series box contains 4 single sided DVDs which is a major plus. Previously the series was put on double sided DVDs and the labelling wasn't very clear. Now you get 4 discs per series. 3) In addition to the episodes for each series you get extras on every single disc. I won't describe each one as they are listed on the Amazon product page. However, die hard Friends fans will be pleased to see that you get some great extras such as my favourites which are:- Gag Reels from series 1-4 and 6-10 (not sure what happened to series 5). Interactive Trivia game An hour long behind the scenes documentary The Friends stars thoughts as the final series comes to a close. 4) You also receive a nice Episode guide book. The book details each episode with a description and pictures. You also get an additional few pages at the back detailing some of the more famous props. 5) The DVDS come with Dutch and English subtitles. 6) They are shown in 16:9 Widescreen format (so no black lines appear down the sides of the screen) My overall opinion is that this box set is well priced and an absolute must have. The box set isn't too bulky so fits nicely in with other DVDs and also looks particularly nice in its presentation box.

A great set, no dvd collection should be without!!!!
Wow at last took the plunge and bought the box set!!! I love Friends and my nine year old daughter is discovering it now which is fab!! I got out of watching it when she was a baby and have always wanted to watch it from the beginning and boy am I glad I did! The set is brand new and sealed, with a fairly thick booklet with coloured pictures that gives a short summery of each episode, the quality of the discs are excellent and the box is sturdy and attractive looking. There is about 80 hours of viewing and extras as well. The price is excellent for the amount of discs and covers the whole series, we are still slowly plodding through them all with much enjoyment. I cannot fault this and if you are hesitating as I did for so long, just go for it you won't be disappointedWow at last took the plunge and bought the box set!!! The leading mainstream US comedy of the 1990s retains its popularity due to its continuing relevance to single people in their 20s.
Extremely good value, if you can live with a slightly subpar picture. Comedy about the lives of 6 single 20-something friends in 1990s New York. Right from the start, the ensemble chemistry is very good. Rachel & Joey are the eye candy. Monica & Chandler have good verbal comic timing, while Ross & Phoebe are the more physical, oddball comics. The writing is a little weak for the first 12 episodes, but each of the cast is prepared to undergo major humilitation in order to keep the laughs going. There's also more sexual inuendo than the mainstream norm for the 2010s. Midway through Season 1, the studio seems to have recognised a hit. Thereafter, the writing is better, and Monica's hair is fixed so that she looks under 30. The iconic Rachel hair comes a little later. Friends picks up on two ... Many of the audience will identify with these aspects of the show, which add extra depth to the laughs.

When I first ordered the dvd's I was a bit worried, slightly damaged box loose discs, but upon receipt there was minimal damage to the box, i wouldn't have noticed. I opened all ten seasons boxes in all 3 discs were loose. Friends is great - whats not to like, all the characters are a great fit and just how you would imagine that generation to be and living in New York.Some of the scrapes they get in are just brilliant.When I first ordered the dvd's I was a bit worried, slightly damaged box loose discs, but upon receipt there was minimal damage to the box, i wouldn't have noticed.
