Lord Larken, a master spy, is assigned to assassinate his old friend, the American pirate, Dashwell, who has just escaped prison with the help of the Langley sister's, Thalia (Tally) and Felicity. When Thalia's luggage disappears she is given someone else's and upon opening it finds the most daring little black gown she has ever seen. Very low cut and shapely to her figure. Larken is disguised as a bungling vicar, a cousin to a duke. When Thalia first meets Larken she knows he is no saint. Through his inept disguise she can see his cat like grace and both are drawn to each other. Larken knows she is hiding Dashwell and wants to arrest her, but somehow her beauty keeps stopping him. Can a little black gown lay low a master spy? Ms. Boyle has written a witty and passionate Regency romance that relates the espionage happening during the War of 1812 in which friends and lovers can quickly become enemies. What Tally doesn't know, is that the black gown she loves so much belongs to a Napoleonic spy and that was the first reason Larken had interest in her. The story has many twist and turns with this case of mistaken identity. Another high adventure from Ms. Boyle.Read full review
