About this product

Product Information

Jasvinder Sanghera knows what it means to flee from your family under threat of forced marriage - and to face the terrible consequences that follow. As a young girl that was just what she had to do. Having overcome terrible odds and rebuilt her life, she now works to help those in similar circumstances, often at great personal risk. In DAUGHTERS OF SHAME she reveals the previously hidden stories of some of these women, and tells of how she helped them to escape not just oppression but in some cases great danger. Following the publication of her own story in SHAME, Jasvinder has brought the issue of forced marriage into the public eye and helped the Forced Marriage bill to go through Parliament. In DAUGHTERS OF SHAME she tells the harrowing but ultimately hopeful stories of strong women facing - and triumphing over - the ultimate oppression.

  • brillant value for money,

this book was a good insight to a community, that we live side by side with, yet really dont understand much about. it would be good for more teachers etc to read these types of books,so they would be able to spot early signs and maybe these victims could be helped alot earlier.
