    A trip down memory lane

    Instantly transported back to the Saturday Morning Pictures (at Stamford Hill Odeon, London) where we paid 6d (2.5p) for a morning's entertainment. After cartoons, a weekly serial and a cinema employee called Uncle something-or-other who entertained us whilst ice cream ladies put in an appearance, came the Big Film, mostly in black-and-white, crackling and sometimes breaking down. This DVD was well worth the price, if only for the nostalgia of seeing the vehicles of that time and the clothes which we wore. The stories were good too.

    Nostalgia for the days of common sense and sound values.

    Nostalgic for the days when children were allowed freedom to use their initiative,be outdoors to play and learn by experience,to be respectful.Parents were able to discipline them without the nanny state interfering.Being active they burned up calories and ate healthily and therefore were not obese.Supermarkets were not promoting junk food in excess.
