As he is driving home from a minister's conference, Baptist minister Don Piper collides with a semi-truck that crosses into his lane. He is pronounced dead at the scene. For the next 90 minutes, Piper experiences heaven where he is greeted by those who had influenced him spiritually. He hears beautiful music and feels true peace. Back on earth, a passing minister who had also been at the conference is led to pray for Don even though he knows the man is dead. Piper miraculously comes back to life and the bliss of heaven is replaced by a long and painful recovery. For years Piper kept his heavenly experience to himself. Finally, however, friends and family convinced him to share his remarkable story., Don Piper's car was crushed by a semitruck and medical personnel said he died instantly.     Inspiring true story, great book!

    Excellent book, detailing true events that happened to the author. After being in a deadly crash involving many vehicles, in which he author was pronounced dead by 4 teams of EMT's, he miraculously came back to life. The book describes the accident, what he experienced while dead, and the aftermath from his other injuries. I personally heard him speak and met him at an event in my hometown several years ago. Very inspiring! Includes many relevant things that the movie does not. I highly recommend this book!

    Helpful and Encouraging

    This book really helped heaven seem more a reality. Very helpful as I lost my younger sister this year. I purchased 2 additional copies and sent them to others in family to help them. Don Piper's true story is an amazing one of inner strength in the face of adversity. I highly recommend this book.
