Funny Clean No swearing No violence exstremely good value for the money
Man about the house I remember From been a young child I was born in 1971. I bought the complete set because there is nothing worse than watching part of some thing. Man about the house was like a breath of fresh air compered to what is on the television its clean funny and no swearing. I enjoyed it so much I have watch it 3 times. Its brillant I enjoyed it so much makes you wish there things like this on the television today.Man about the house I remember From been a young child I was born in 1971. This is truly one of the great sitcom's from the 70's. It is astute in it's portrayal of 'breaking ground to social acceptance' in the bringing together of the two generations of pre and post 60's ideological views. The liberated 70's young share a lot more common ground with the more mature conservative pre-sixties older generation than either side care to admit. The situations are great, the acing strong and convincing. Sets are not only nostalgic but very accurate in their portrayal of life at that time. It is facinating to compare the prices of things at this timeand to see the whacky fashions of the early post-glit era. The whole series is a joy to watch as we see changing group dynamics and the group bonds tighten throughout time with every passing experience. Undoubtedly "George ... This is truly one of the great sitcom's from the 70's. Undoubtedly "George & Mildred" as landlords, brilliantly played by Brian Murphy and Yootha Joyce are the glue which binds many of the hilarious situations together (caught up in quite a few misunderstandings on the way too). I won't reveal the overall plot as this would spoil your enjoyment to see the series unfold. Suffice it to say that as "Chrissy" (Paula Wilcox) simmers, "Jo" (Sally Thomsett) confusses, "Robin" (Richard O'Sullivan) acts honourably with best intentions, it's 'the girls' that always seem to come out on top with "George Roper" coming off the worse. Often in fact, it is a very moral storyline; 'the baddy' gets their comeuppance whilst the innocent parties get their just rewards. This is truly a great sitcom of its time and one I throroughly recommend you to watch. As a six disc set it is really good value too and gave me a great deal of pleasure to watch.

Based around a guy (Robin played by Richard O'Sullivan) sharing a flat with two girls (Chrissy played Paula Wilcox and Jo played by Sally Thomsett), All living together in an old 3 storey house in London with The Ropers, George and Mildred(Brian Murphy and Yootha Joyce)as their Landlords. With an excellent 1st episode to introduce the characters to us. Sitcom went on to produce six series of a very funny and enjoyable comedy show. There was also a spin-off with Richard O'Sullivan called Robin's Nest which saw his dream of a restuarant come true.One of the better sitcoms that came out of the 1970s.
