    Great sound, great trainer

    I'm just a rank beginner with spoons. I had read other reviews of these, and those were encouraging. Am also working with loose kitchen spoons, but they require more skill than these, which are a lot easier because they are joined as one unit. This makes them a great trainer because you can hold them the same way as loose spoons and practice all the same movements and rhythms. They sound great and are well made. I've tried all the different patterns I know, and anything I can do on separate spoons can be done on these, so am not seeing any disadvantage. For the price, I'd say give them a go.

    It's OK, but there's a better deal out there.

    This musical spoon set is OK for the price, but the wooden Heritage Musical Spoons from Canada are easier to play & they sound better.

    The jig is up

    Nicely made. Nice wood. For the price. It's the shape that needs refining. Not possible to play a "roll", for example. I've played spoons in Celtic bands for 20 years. In my opinion this one does not work for 6/8 jigs, at least right out of the box. If you're at ease with woodworking tools perhaps it could be taught new tricks.

    too stiff at the 'hinge', not flexible. Appears to be two pieces of wood glued together instead of one solid piece cut out.
