I drilled a hole in the back of the control unit so I could surface mount it without the adhesive pad as I’ve found these lose their grip in a heatwave! I found the whole installation difficult and time-consuming. I was glad that there was space around the fans to help with fixing them. But - judging by the warm air stream now issuing from the vent - it was worthwhile!
