San Francisco Chronicle - There are laughs throughout., Arizona Republic - THE GUILT TRIP surprises by avoiding the obvious. It zigs when you expect it to zag. It's perceptive and thoughtful as it swerves around potholes that easily could have broken an axle.

In Anne Fletcher's family comedy, Barbra Streisand plays Joyce Brewster, a sixtysomething widow who has given up on men and seems to spend most of her free time phoning her son Andrew (Seth Rogen), a chemist who has created an all-natural cleaning solution that he's bet his career on and is trying to sell to retailers (a wager that he's losing thus far). As the movie opens, Andrew returns home to spend some time with his mom before going on a cross-country road trip to pitch his product in various cities, ending with a trip to Las Vegas where he'll shoot a Home Shopping Network demo. THE PROPOSAL's Anne Fletcher directs from a script by Dan Fogelman.

      A good watch

      Sometimes when you see a film advertised at the cinema it doesn't always live up to expectations. I bought this for our church cinema club which is a mixture of all ages. There was very little bad language and was quite gentle in the humour. It is hard to get a film these days that doesn't have a lot of bad language and no scenes of violence so for easy watching I would recommend this film
