they seem pretty strong, and do fit the slots in my Thule Caprock M roof rack.the only issue, you need to use wider diameter "fender washers" instead of the smaller flat washers provided, but that is not a big deal. You really need something like this to get your load on the roof rack properly centered, and not shifting around as you corner the car.they are silver colored, and i will be painting them black
