The music our Great Grandparents listened to!
Great compilation of music, but it is not all "Roaring", so don't be misled. I personally like the fact that it is not all "Roaring"...it has the perfect balance of Roaring and Romance that was then. Being in my thirties I found it a relief from todays music...it is starting to, who am I kidding, it does all sound the same. Hardley any talent, computer generated instruments, sounds, and vocal enhancements. So if you are tired of all this, then I suggest you purchase this CD set, listened to a whole disk completely, then be the judge. Beloit, Wisconsin, USAGreat compilation of music, but it is not all "Roaring", so don't be misled. Old classics given new life
When buying material that was recorded decades ago, there is always a wonder just how it will sound, has it been compressed, is it too "digital". I was very suprised that this package sounds really good on my hi fi. I would never expect 21st century quality, after all, these tracks were originally recorded 60 or 70 years ago, but the clarity is very good, no clicks or crackles, the levelling is sensible, and every track is a gem. This was a great purchase and more than a basic introduction to this genre. Great retrospective of such a fun time in music
Over the course of my research of 20's music, I've encountered many poor recordings, but the tracks in this collection sound awesome! It's a nice collection of early jazz, ragtime, dixie and dreamy, dusty ballads. All the heavy hitters of the time are here: Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbecke, Al Jolson, Isham Jones, Frank Crumit, etc. I love it :)
