      One of the best CD's not yet in your collection...

      Dave Brubeck Quartet ‘TIME OUT’ was my ‘first’ jazz record purchase. My sad addiction to hi-fi equipment saw me attending the Last Drop Village at Bromley Cross, Bolton, Lancashire. The event was the (in)famous CLEARTONE HI-FI sponsored show. LOVELY VENUE, on the foot of the Lancashire hills. Those unfamiliar with a hi-fi show, a manufacturer (quite a lot in those days) would hire out a hotel bedroom, stripped of its bed, and set up their latest wares for demonstration. The keen ‘public’ would wander from room to room making general comments about sound quality and reproduction. It was here I heard my first ever CD player, and in 1984, introduced (courtesy of a company called Marantz) to TAKE FIVE, The Dave Brubeck Quartets most famous track. This is of course included on the 2004 ...

      Brubeck At His Best

      Let's get one thing clear, I am not a jazz fan. And yet I have always enjoyed listening to Dave Brubeck's music. All his standards are on this double CD, along with some lesser known (to me) tracks. The Cd is one that I found vey enjoyable to listen to, and I have listened to it a few times now. If you want to listen to modern Jazz, then look no further, it IS Essential listening.
