harry potter and the philosophers stone
packed with some of the best actors in the world follow harry potters adventures. with great special affects a must for any harry potter fan. bought all 6 on ebay as kids had never seen them and thier school decided to do a project on harry potter, so they were a must really, beat reading all those books. although kids have asked for them now ! parental guidance reccommended as some scences may be scary for younger viewerspacked with some of the best actors in the world follow harry potters adventures. with great special affects a must for any harry potter fan. bought all 6 on ebay as kids had never seen them and thier school decided to do a project on harry potter, so they were a must really, beat reading all those books. although kids have asked for them now ! parental guidance reccommended as some scences may be scary for younger viewers

Sets up well for what is to come
Having dispensed with my VCR(never used it these days)I realised that I had all the Potter films on DVD except the first. Found, paid for and received with 5 days on ebay. Ok so this is only the single disc version, so there are no special features but that is not why I bought it. There are those people who would say that some of the acting is a touch wooden, but I feel that it adds to the story in that this is a group of children who are entering in to a completely new experience,especially Harry Potter who didn't even know that he was a wizard until a couple of days before. The film manages to pack in most of the book therefore setting up for the folowing films. Outstanding performances from Rupert Grint as Ron with comic timing beyond his years and from the late Richard Harris as ... This film cheerfully brings to screen the first of the Potter adventures and results are mixed. For much of the time the sets appear to have been lit with a 40W lightbulb or its eco equivalent (this is even worse in later films). The script is faithful to the book and succesfully creates quidditch, Hogwarts and associated wizards. What makes the film a hard watch for anyone other than an enraptured child is the surprisingly poor performances from the main child actors-there is a price to pay for casting on the basis of appearance. Of course they were not helped by some seriously pedestrian editing, you can easily imagine the director saying 'now turn and give me amazement'. Good , but not as good as it could have been. excellent film
This very first film of harry potter is excellent, it is funny & full of action too. I would reccomend this film to anybody, I bought this film as I am a harry potter fan & intend to collect all the films.
