It gives sharks a bad name
This is definitely one of those films that has been so over-hyped over the years that if you haven't seen it until now, you would be expecting much more than what is delivered. The best part of the film are the scenes with Roy Scheider. It is amazing that in all these years, that no reviewer has ever mentioned that he got the part, not only because he played a cop in that classic with Gene Hackman.- but also because (obviously an inside joke) that Roy has eyes like the shark. And the fact that he made up the line " you're gonna need a bigger boat," is truly the best line in the film. The rest of the film - from beginning to end, is either amateurish or no better than so so. it is aimed at the teenage mentality. The slap in the face from the mother, should have been given to those ...
