Not as exciting as the 2007 version of Beowulf
Having seen the new version of Beowulf with the voices of Ray Winstone and Angelina Jolie, I wanted to see the older version of Beowulf and Grendel with real actors playing the roles, not animated figures. The older version is a bit slow and the action sequences are not very good compared with films like Lord of the Rings or Van Helsing.The acting is a bit poor and the script was dull. If you want a DVD of this story then buy the newest version, the animated figures are based on the actors facial features and the animation is excellent.Having seen the new version of Beowulf with the voices of Ray Winstone and Angelina Jolie, I wanted to see the older version of Beowulf and Grendel with real actors playing the roles, not animated figures. Beowulf and Grendel - Great movie!!!
This is a fantastic story, the landscapes in the movie are stunning - Iceland i believe. Two movies with the same story came out at the same time, this and a movie just called Beowulf, now Beowulf seems to have become the better known of the two. This movie seems very real and hasnt been diluted by the Hollywood glossyness, its gritty but doesnt take itself too seriously. All in all its a great movie with a great cast, Gerard Butler from 300 (he was Scotish in that and he is Scotish in this film too, but who cares!), Stellan Skarsgård, look out for him in 'Breaking the waves' by Lars von Trier - a very different film from this and I also think Stellan has just stared in Mamma Mia. Sarah Polly the witch is very hot in this movie, and if you have seen 'Hot Fuzz' then see if you can spot the ...
