Maria McKee - 'Life is sweet'
'Life is Sweet' is Maria's 3rd solo album and marks a change of direction from the country / soul mix of her previous 'You've got to sin to be saved'. Maria has gone for a heavier, sound with layers of electic guitars and keyboards. She told me (in August 06) that this is the sound which she is most comfortabe with - which is interesting, given the more acoustic, americana sound of her last album 'Peddlin' Dreams'. Anyway, the album reminds me of Bowie at his most glam, with big sounds all over the place. Maria's voice sours comfortabley over the band and her song writing maintains the melodic, lyrical and emotional sensibility of all of her other solo work.'Life is Sweet' is Maria's 3rd solo album and marks a change of direction from the country / soul mix of her previous 'You've got to sin to be saved'.
