About this product

Product Information

Emmy Award-winning director Tom Hooper (THE DAMNED UNITED) teams with screenwriter David Seidler (TUCKER: THE MAN AND HIS DREAM) to tell the story of King George VI. When his older brother abdicates the throne, nervous-mannered successor George Bertie VI (Colin Firth) reluctantly dons the crown. Though his stutter soon raises concerns about his leadership skills, King George VI eventually comes into his own with the help of unconventional speech therapist Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush). Before long the king and Lionel have forged an unlikely bond, a bond that proves to have real strength when the United Kingdom is forced to flex its international might.

Reviews
The Sun - This is a stunning piece of cinema and a perfect, feel-good start to the New Year., Guardian UK - Tom Hooper's richly enjoyable and handsomely produced movie about George VI's struggle to cure his stammer is a massively confident crowd-pleaser., Daily Mail - The rumours are completely true. The superlatives are completely justified. Colin Firth really does give the performance of his life as the Queen's father, George VI., New Of The World - Colin Firth's made an amazing film by being a stuttering, upper-class English gent? Hugh Grant must be bloody kicking himself., Los-Angeles Times - Both actors completely inhabit their absorbing roles, relishing the opportunity their exchanges provide and adding unlooked-for layers to a complicated human relationship.

the seller posted the two bluray films in a plastick bag, when i recived the bluray films the box was badly broken and the sleeve damaged, i contacted the seller,he was blaming ebay for this ,if the seller had wraped these films up properly this would not have happened, he dident want to know anything about the damage, due to poor packagin on his behalf.

  • Excellent movie

Really excellent piece of cinema. As I'm of an age where I can remember the subject of the film, HRH King George V1, I was moved by the apparent attention to detail. The casting was inspired!

  • Fantastic film

Love it, love it, love it!! Emotive and funny all in one, Colin Firth deserved his award! Went to see this in the pictures and would recommend it. If you haven't seen it yet, then get out and try it!

  • Entertainment for all the family

Great Film Firth and Rush work so well together. I laughed lots but the film has a more serious side, it you like the royals watch it - if you don't - still watch it!
