<h2>David Hall</h2>The 1914-S is quite a bit easier to locate in circulated grades than the 1914-D, but it is somewhat rarer in mint state grades. Gem MS65 or better specimens are rare. Strike is somewhat soft, as is the case with most S-mint Buffalos. The luster can vary from satiny to somewhat frosty.

    Collecting the buffalo nickels

    I like collecting the older circulated buffalo nickels because they look natural when they get worn down just a bit. The high end coins are nice, but I do not like it when they tone down with age because they usually get spots of toning. When you collect the used ones they seem to be more stable over years of storage and look as good as the day they were put away. What ever direction your collecting leads you just remember to have fun collecting.
