This doesn't bother me because I am not a great fan of leather, but if you are especially seeking a leather wallet, look elsewhere. It seems to be some kind of tough, woven plastic material. I think it will hold up well. Many compartments but it's a bit rigid because it's not leather. Time will tell whether or not it bends a little. Very nice, though.
