Synopsis
Sometimes, grace gets messy. Caleb Kaltenbach was raised by LGBT parents, marched in gay pride parades as a youngster, and experienced firsthand the hatred and bitterness of some Christians toward his family. But then Caleb surprised everyone, including himself, by becoming a Christian...and a pastor. Very few issues in Christianity are as divisive as the acceptance of the LGBT community in the church. As a pastor and as a person with beloved family members living a gay lifestyle, Caleb had to face this issue with courage and grace. Messy Grace shows us that Jesus's command to "love your neighbor as yourself" doesn't have an exception clause for a gay "neighbor"--or for that matter, any other "neighbor" we might find it hard to relate to. Jesus was able to love these people and yet still hold on to his beliefs. So can you. Even when it's messy. "Messy Grace is an important contribution to the conversation about sexual identity for churches and leaders. Caleb's story is surprising and unique, and he weaves it together compellingly. He states his views clearly, leaves room for disagreement, and champions love no matter where you are in this conversation." --Jud Wilhite, Sr. Pastor, Central Christian Church, Sometimes, grace gets messy. Nice book at a good price. Only issue I had with this Seller is the fact they use a "third party" shipping company called OSM Worldwide, that is very poor at their job. This third party caused a delay of 3 to 4 days at least in my receiving the book I purchased. I have contacted the Seller and made them aware of this issue. Should you decide to do business with this Seller just be aware that your book may take longer than usual to arrive.

This book was the completely wrong item (BUYERS BEWARE - STOCK IMAGE IS *NOT* THE EDITION YOU WILL RECEIVE!), seller communication was awful (didn't answer any questions, barely legible English), shipping was extremely late (sent false tracking number then actually shipped it 2+ weeks post-order date), and it was poorly packaged (book corners bent up since shipped in a plastic bag with no padding or support whatsoever). Awful experience with this seller in every imaginable way.

Item is just as described, although it’s pictured larger than actual size; which is the size of a deck of flash cards. Also disappointed that the item was mailed to wrong address or customer mix up & no one responded to my email or apologized or explained why item was sent somewhere else. I don’t know if this is a reflection of seller or seller’s employees? I had a project to use it on & just moved forward. Thank you seller.

  • Real, honest, not sanitized

This was a good and honest book. It was from a Christian perspective, but it didn't seem "sanitized." The author had a defined Christian outlook, yet he extended love for all. It resonated with my own life experiences. I passed it on to my sister after I read it.
